Great analysis of how two companies are creating a developer base for their competing product. Since Apple had the iPhone in the hands of consumers and developers they are clearly in the lead. I don't see them dropping the ball in the immediate future so it is going to take a lot of work on Google's behalf to get the market to buy their product and embrace a unknown aspect of their brand. Google has the most to loose in terms of existing brand equity, but if they pull this of it would be like what Apple did 7 years ago when they introduced the iPod. At that time Apple had little to lose and was very risk oriented. I'm not so sure that Google is in the same entrepreneurial mind set as Apple was. When push comes to shove I don't know if Google will risk it all to win big.
